Based on Margo Anton's Mosaic-A-Day project and blog, this hands-on workshop is perfect for those needing a nudge to get back in the studio, those interested in trying new materials, or those looking for new ways to express themselves in mosaic.  With much of the art world geared towards producing larger pieces, particularly in mosaic (commonly used for installations), working small may seem an oddity.  However, it offers many benefits over larger works, including lower price point for sales, low time and cost commitment, and a more rapid increase in skill level of the artist.  This workshop discusses the ins and outs of working in mosaic on a small scale, including benefits, design issues, and execution.  Following a lecture with a lot of examples, demos, and time for Q&A, students will create a three or more small scale mixed media mosaics with a variety of materials, some of which may be new to the participant.  Some mosaic experience is recommended.
